Laura Vandervoort : Supergirl Return to Smallville

Laura Dianne Vandervoort was born on September 22, 1984 in Toronto,Ontario, Canada. Her Dutch ancestry more than evident via her traditional Flemish look, fair-haired.

Laura began acting at the age of 13. She had always been an entertainer, putting on shows for family and friends, however what triggered her interest in the arts was a film called "My Girl." She received the movie from her aunt at a very young age and after watching realized that acting was what was inside her, and this became her focus.

Vandervoort was involved in several sports such as football, karate, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, and baseball. Entering karate at age seven, she earned a second degree Black Belt from Northern Karate Schools by the age of 16.

Laura Vandervoort seemed poised to scale untold heights when she took her dramatic bow in the early 2000s (at age 16).

After taking several classes and doing background work on Canadian shows such as Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy, she got her first speaking role in Canadian children's series Goosebumps (three episodes) and Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

Initially, Vandervoort landed bit parts in direct-to-video outings such as Alley Cats Strike! (2000), Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire (2000), and Troubled Waters (2006), but she quickly signed for a lead, as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in the seventh season of the series Smallville. She was a regular in season seven, and appeared in the "Bloodline" episode for season eight. She then returned for another episode called 'Supergirl' in the 10th and final season of Smallville.

Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl as Clark Kent's cousin whose spacecraft became trapped in stasis which was just recently released. Much of Kara's stories involves her attempts to adjust to life on Earth.

Kara Zor-El was the last survivor of Argo City of the planet Krypton, which had survived the explosion of the planet and had drifted through space. When the inhabitants of the colony are slain by green kryptonite which was released by meteorites striking the lead barrier, Kara is sent to Earth by her father Zor-El to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman. Fearing that she might not be recognized by Superman, Kara's parents provide a costume based on the Man of Steel's own.

Like all Kryptonians under a yellow sun, the current version of Kara Zor-El possesses vast superhuman strength, speed, and stamina; invulnerability; flight; super breath; x-ray vision; telescopic and microscopic vision; freeze breath; heat vision; and super hearing. The modern day Kara Zor-El is also a capable martial artist, having trained with the Amazons.
